OK Let’s get started!

To complete this tutorial, you will need the following stocks:

  • Ocean By Esmeralda-stock
  • Mountain By Lyfiar
  • Boat
  • Female Violinist By thinck
  • City By Ealucids-Photos
  • Planet
  • Fire Sparks

Step 1

Create a new document sized 1440px * 800px with black background. Load the Ocean stock photo into Photoshop, select a portion of it, copy & paste the selection to our document. Use the “Perspective” option in the Free Transform tool to add some perspective to this new ocean layer as shown below:

Use a soft eraser, fade the edges of the ocean as shown below:

Apply the following image adjustments to this ocean layer:

Black and White

Levels

and here is the effect so far:

Step 2

Load the Mountain stock photo into Photoshop, select a portion and paste it onto our document:

Use a soft eraser to fade the bottom part as shown below:

Black & White

and here is the effect so far:

Step 3

Load the Boat stock photo in, cut out the boat and paste it to the following position:

Apply the following Black and White image adjustment to this boat layer:

Use a cloud brush or cloud filter, add some mist/cloud effect around the canvas:

Step 4

Step 5

Load the city stock into Photoshop, select a portion and paste it onto our document, cover the mountain as shown below:

Change the layer blend mode to “Lighten”:

Eraser some parts of the city layer and you will have a scattered light effect around the mountain:

Step 6

Add the planet to our document as shown below and change the layer blend mode to “Lighten” (I used the planet-6 from the collection):

Apply the following Black and White adjustment to it:

and here is the effect so far:

Step 7

Add some fire sparks from the stock image we download – use “Warp” option from the free transform tool, add some warping effect to the spark:

You will need to set the blend mode of this fire layer to “Screen”:

Repeat the above step and add more fire effect around the canvas:

Step 8

We’re almost done! For final touches, we can flatten the layers and duplicate the background layer, apply the following “Accented Edges” filter to it:

Set its layer blending mode to “Hard Light”:

This will give the image as artistic feel. If you feel the filter is too much for your liking, you can use a soft eraser and remove parts of this new layer:

I further applied some colour effect to this image, and this is the final result (click to enlarge):
